Hello everyone this past week we have submitted our first draft for our advocacy project. We each had to peer review two of our classmates' papers. The first person’s I pre reviewed was Cesia’s AP and first and foremost I want to applaud her for turning in a great first draft. Of course there were certains things I suggested that needed correction such as adding more quotes in certain areas and as well as correcting some grammar errors. Her paper was about elephants and the issue of people killing them for their tusks, the correct term would be poaching. Overall, it was an amazing paper and had great structure.
The second paper I read was written by Jeannie and she wrote a great paper as well. She wrote about elephant poaching as well, she gave great statistics about it and explained greatly as well with scholarly evidence. Of course I suggested some things to possibly make her essay better and I suggested at one point to make the topic sentences stronger and to make them a smoother transition from their previous paragraph. Overall she did a great first draft!
Since the beginning we have peer reviewed each other's work and we learned from each other. What stands out to me the most is how polite we are to each other and as well as we give each other great advice, such as grammar and as well as changing up some sentences to make our statements stronger.
I personally think peer reviews are great since we learn from each other, but it still makes me feel uncomfortable sort of judging someone's work. This is why I try to be as polite as possible so they don't feel like I am judging their great work. I believe overall it is great at the end to do peer reviews, there are moments where the advice isn’t so great, but i believe it all has to do with people not trying to be rude.
